Ecosystem conservation
Merinas are essential for the subsistence of the
ecosystem. With grazing, they keep pasture
areas healthy, promote the growth of plant cover
by returning nutrients to the soil and helping to
regenerate the land. The lack of herds can lead
to poorly maintained fields and forests with an
increased risk of fires.
Sheep also favor the pollination of plants, since
in times of flowering, pollen and seeds adhere to
their wool, moving them to different places
during their grazing.
Guarantee of origin and traceability
We guarantee the origin of the Spanish Merino
wool through the National Association of Merino
Livestock Breeders. All the farms that participate in
Genuine Merino® are part of the Association and
their herds are registered in the Genealogical Book
of the Spanish Merino Breed guarded by the ACME.
The entire textile process has been audited by
Bureau Veritas, which has issued a certification that
ensures that our production control and monitoring
methods are perfectly documented and controlled.
This allows us to ensure that the Genuine Merino®
production system is perfectly traceable. At all
times we are able to identify the farms of origin of
the wool of our products.
Merino wool is a sustainable choice
Merino wool is 100% natural and biodegradable.
It is a renewable resource, it is part of the natural
carbon cycle and contributes to the capture of
CO2. The unquestionable quality of merino wool
textiles favors its durability. Wool garments are easy
to care of, they need less washing and have less
household impact than most other fibers. It is a
natural fiber and does not contribute to microfiber
contamination. In addition, wool is the fiber that
conserves the most value in the final recycling of
textile products. In Europe, we have few natural
resources and few local fibers and choosing
Genuine Merino® significantly reduces the carbon
footprint associated with transport.
